The Nat area is underlain by argillite if the Ordovician to Mississippian Earn Group and Late Triassic to Early Jurassic ultramafic rocks.

The K Group, Horribilis and Nat claims were located immediatly west of the Nation River and 35 kilometres west of the community of Mackenzie. Pyrite, magnetite and hematite are recognizable in sparse syenitic outcrops.

A 1988-89 work by Placer Dome yielded the follwing information. A magnetometer survey delineated the boundaries of the unaltered ultramafic rock unit and defined the area as about 400 meters wide and 3000 meters long. VLF-EM conductors were located in zones of low magnetic relief and are most likely associated with faults. Sample A3515 contained 0.23 gram per tonne platinum; it represents material from an outcrop of highly altered ultramafic rock that is cut by minor quartz veining. Sample A3630 contained 0.29 gram per tonne gold and came from an outcrop of rock similar to A3515 but about 1 kilometre distant (Assessment Report 19736).

HISTORY

In 1963, an elongated magnetic anomaly with a maximim value of 3164 gammas was detected with in a north west trending mass of serpentinite(?) in contact with a highly altered granitic gneiss(?). This work occurred on the K Group. The K Group of claims, including the Horribilis and Nat claims, is located immediatly west of the Nation River and 35 kilometres west of the community of Mackenzie. Pyrite, magnetite and hematite were recognizable in sparse syenitic outcrops.

Chevron Standard Ltd conducted some exploration in the 1970s on its Nation River project.

Prospecting, silt sampling and outcrop sampling was conducted by Ruanco Enterprises. This lead to the discovery of an altered and pyritized fault zone in outcrop.

From 1988 to 1989 Place Dome Inc was operator on the Nat claims with Ruanco retaining ownership. In 1988, Placer Dome conducted geochemical and geophysical surveys. The geochemical field work included soil (499 samples), silt (9 samples) and rock (20 samples) sampling and ground VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys along 14.7 kms of line. In 1989, Placer Dome conducted geochemical surveys including stream sediment (24 samples), soil (569 samples) and rock (37 samples) sampling and VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys along 18.08 kilometres of line.

Dave Forshaw restaked a small part the area in 2007 as the Golden Nation claim and conducted limited prospecting.
