The Lady A (C zone) occurrence is located on a west-facing slope, east of Chipman Creek and approximately 2.3 kilometres west of Coronation Mountain.
Regionally, the area is underlain by chert, siliceous argillite and siliciclastic rocks of the Mississippian to Pennsylvanian Fourth Lake Formation (Buttle Lake Group) and volcanic rocks of the Middle to Upper Devonian McLaughlin Ridge Formation (Sicker Group), which have been intruded by gabbroic bodies (called the Mount Hall Gabbro) that are coeval with the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group). Locally the sediments strike northwest and dip to the northeast at 50 to 60 degrees. See the Lara (MINFILE 092B 129) occurrence for a larger discussion of the regional geology.
The deposit is a stratabound taconite lens composed of grey chert and red jasper hosting bands of very fine-grained magnetite with minor hematite. The deposit outcrops along strike for a distance of 42 metres, having an apparent thickness of 12 metres. Drilling has revealed a downdip extent of at least 48 metres.
A ‘conservative’ estimate of reserves of 2.15 million tonnes grading 18 per cent iron was reported based on four drillholes put down in 1953 (Buckham, 1953).
Work History
In 1953, four drillholes, totalling 204.2 metres, were completed on the Lady A (C Zone) occurrence.
In 1978, Union Miniere Exploration and Mining Corp. Ltd. conducted a soil sampling program on the area immediately south as the Sheep, Mouse, Bear, Dear, Elk and Pika claims.
In 1984, Lode Resource Corp. conducted a program of prospecting and geochemical (silt and soil) sampling on the area as the Lady 1-2 claims. In 1986, Ainsworth Explorations Ltd., on the behalf of Rafael Resources Ltd., conducted a program of soil sampling and a ground electromagnetic survey on the Ermalina 5-11 and Lady 2 claims.
In 1987, Lode Resources completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the Ermelina and Lady claims. A rock sample (LE 87-35) from a pod of semi-massive sulphide, primarily pyrite, within a quartz vein and silicified zone in pyritic sediments, located immediately north of the ‘iron formation’ in the vicinity of the Lady C zone assayed 0.295 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 15881).
In 2003, C.C. Rennie conducted a program of prospecting and a 2.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the Lady property. In 2011, Argus Metals Corp., on the behalf of Blue River Resources, conducted a minor prospecting and rock sampling program on the Lady property. In 2013, Argus Metals Corp. conducted a satellite remote sensing survey on the Lady property.
