The area is underlain by calc-alkaline volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group. To the south these have been intruded by granodioritic rocks of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. Locally, on the Bluebird claim, a 12-metre wide limestone band, inter-bedded with Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group volcanic rocks, is replaced by massive magnetite skarn carrying chalcopyrite, pyrite and values in gold. Similar mineralization occurs on the adjacent Ingersol claim. A sample taken from an unspecified location on the adjoining Bluebird and Ingersol claims assayed 58.0 per cent iron and 13.7 grams per tonne gold (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1903, page 194).
