The Thrush occurrence is located on a low ridge separating Snowy and Quartzite creeks, approximately 2.5 kilometres northwest of Jade City.
Regionally, the area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Mississippian to Permian Slide Mountain Complex.
Locally, a 0.45- to 0.60-metre vuggy quartz vein with pyrite and tetrahedrite hosts gold values. The vein has been traced along an approximate east-west trend for greater than 90 metres at surface.
In 1979, a diamond drill hole (79-6) yielded 1.0 gram per tonne gold over 1.5 metres (39.3 to 40.8 metres downhole), including 7.8 grams per tonne gold over 0.12 metre (Assessment Report 7897).
Work History
The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Taurus (MINFILE 104P 012) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.
