The Ajax 2 occurrence is located near the south bank of Snowy Creek, approximately 1.3 kilometres northwest of its junction with McDame Creek.
Regionally, the area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Pennsylvanian to Permian Slide Mountain Complex.
Locally, quartz veins, varying from 0.3 to 0.7 metre wide, host minor amounts of tetrahedrite, malachite and azurite. The veins strike 030 degrees with a dip of 70 degrees southeast.
In 1989, two chip samples (E32362 and E32361) are reported to have assayed 1.13 and trace grams per tonne gold with 105.6 and 51.3 grams per tonne silver over 0.1 and 0.5 metre, respectively (Assessment Report 19279).
Work History
The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Snowy Creek – Rich Vein (MINFILE 104P 014) occurrence and a complete exploration history can be found there.
