Quartz monzonite of the Early Cretaceous Cassiar batholith is faulted and intruded by lamprophyre dikes that trend about 035 degrees. Faults strike about 020 degrees, with near-vertical dips. Quartz vein breccia contains sphalerite and galena and hostrock is manganese stained, and sericitically altered. A grab sample (22253) assayed 225.3 grams per tonne silver, 3.9 per cent zinc, 0.93 per cent lead, 0.17 per cent copper and 1.5 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 8061).
A regional stream sediment and water geochemical reconnaissance program was conducted in 1978 by the Geological Survey of Canada jointly with the British Columbia Department of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. The field results released in June 1979, indicated several unstaked, anomalous drainages, three of which were subsequently staked by Cassiar Asbestos Corporation Limited. The claim blocks were extended in October 1979 to provide better coverage of the three areas of interest. In 1979, Cassiar Asbestos Corporation Limited conducted prospecting on the Tootsee Project claims.
