The Box Lake occurrence is located near Horsefeed Creek about 79 kilometres southeast of the community of Atlin.
At the showing, copper mineralization (chalcopyrite) is similar to the Joss’alun (104N 136) located 2.5 kilometres northwest, in that it is equally widespread but in far less concentration. Copper at Joss’alun is present as chalcopyrite as disseminations, fracture fillings and pillow rinds and is assumed to be similar at Box Lake. Pyrite is in much greater abundance at Box Lake than in other volcanic hosted copper showings. Mineralization observed at Box Lake was either weak or only observed in talus (float). The area is underlain by Upper Paleozoic basaltic pillowed flows and breccias of the oceanic Cache Creek Complex, probably the upper Mississippian to Permian Nakina Formation.
In 2008, drillhole BN08-10 targeted coincident near-surface induced polarization (IP) chargeability and copper soil geochemical anomalies adjacent to the Box Lake showing. The hole collared in the host mafic volcanic/volcaniclastic unit, which contained interbedded felsic and intermediate porphyritic rocks, and ended in volcaniclastic tuff and black pyritic mudstone. Minor copper mineralization was observed as patchy trace to 3 per cent disseminated and vein chalcopyrite within the mafic lithologies from 27.53 to 177.15 metres. Mineralization occurred predominantly as disseminations in the hostrock and on vein selvages within breccias, tuffs and porphyritic mafic rocks, and associated with epidote alteration along pillow margins (Assessment Report 30752).
Copper Ridge Explorations Inc. staked the Joss’alun (104N 136) ground in late 2002. In 2003, Imperial Metals Corporation optioned the claims to consolidate ownership into the Nak project and undertook a comprehensive exploration program. Three additional showings were discovered: the Jennusty (104N 137), Bor (104N 138) and Box Lake. Imperial Metals Corp. announced in early 2004 that it would not be proceeding with its option on the Joss'alun copper property. Consolidated Norsemont Ventures Ltd. signed an agreement on June 2004 with Copper Ridge Explorations whereby Norsemont could earn up to a 75% interest in the property. Consolidated Norsemont completed an IP survey on the property in 2004. In 2008, Lomiko Resources Inc. completed an exploration program consisting of an airborne geophysical survey and a follow-up program of ground geophysics (IP over 4.4 kilometres), line cutting, soil sampling (275 samples), mapping, prospecting and diamond drilling (three holes totalling 759.8 metres) on the Big Nak property. Two holes (516.3 metres total) of the drill program were completed on the Box Lake showing located 2.6 kilometres southeast of the Joss'Alun. The airborne geophysics comprised an AeroTEM electromagnetic and magnetic survey over 603 line kilometres.
In 2015, Imperial Metals Corporation carried out prospecting, rock and soil sampling programs on the Nak property in an area between the Joss'alun and Box Lake occurrences. A total of 30 soil samples and 4 rock samples were taken.
