The Pato 2 occurrence is located near the headwaters of Cracker Creek, west of Surprise Lake, about 28 kilometres northeast of the community of Atlin.
Silver-lead-zinc mineralization occurs in a transition zone from medium to coarse grained to porphyritic alaskite of the Late Cretaceous Surprise Lake batholith (Surprise Lake Plutonic Suite). In 1976, a sample (B1-31-8-1A) assayed 51.8 grams per tonne silver, 1.62 per cent lead and 1.04 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 6469). The mineralization is assumed to be shear-related quartz veins containing tetrahedrite, galena and sphalerite with minor pyrite and arsenopyrite similar to the nearby Purple Rose showing (104N 005) located 1.2 kilometres to the northwest.
In 1989, a rock sample from a quartz vein referred to as the 'J Vein' assayed 1342 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 19518).
In 1976-77, geochemical and prospecting work was completed over parts of the Pato 1-5 claims on behalf of Union Oil Company of Canada Limited. This work was part of a larger program of uranium exploration covering the Surprise Lake batholith and surrounding area.
In 1989, W.B. Wallis conducted some prospecting on the Gopher 1-3 claims which cover the showing.
In 2002, prospection was done by William B Wallis on the B&B and B&W 1&2 claims, who is the owner of these claims as well.
In 2017, Global Drilling Solutions on behalf of Zinex Mining Corporation conducted extensive geochemical sampling on the Ruby Creek property, as well as drilling and ground geophysics. Rock sample 1532844 returned 0.31 per cent lead, 0.22 per cent zinc and greater than 10 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 37171). In 2018, Global carried out further geochemical sampling on the property, and in 2019 they continued work in this region, in the form of prospection, geochemical surveying and a ground geophysical survey.
In 2021, an airborne SkyTEM survey was conducted by Stuhini Exploration on the Ruby Creek property, which revealed a number of regional trends across the property.
