The Snowbird occurrence is located on the Teslin Plateau about 48 kilometres east of the community of Atlin.
Uranium mineralization, consisting of kasolite in shears and patches of zeunerite, occurs in alaskite of the Late Cretaceous Surprise Lake Plutonic Suite. In 1977, a grab sample assayed 0.384 per cent uranium (Assessment Report 6509).
In 1976-77, Union Oil Company of Canada Limited conducted some geochemical work and prospecting on the MIR-8 and MIR-9 claims which consisted of scattered soil and stream sediment sampling as follow up on anomalous results returned from regional reconnaissance surveys and also to test the expression of mineralization discovered by prospecting.
In 2006, Aldershot Resources Ltd. conducted a spectral analysis program on their Atlin East property which covers the CX (104N 114), Mir 3 (104N 113), Mir 7 and CX 2 (104N 111) occurrences. The program involved acquisition of satellite spectral data available from NASA, reconfiguring the data into a workable format, geo-referencing to TRIM map bases and extensive and rigorous classification of the data in search of indicators that might lead to the discovery of uranium mineralization.
