The Gold 218A occurrence is located just north of Surprise Lake about 22 kilometres northeast of the community of Atlin.
The Ruby Mountain area is underlain by Mississippian to Triassic Kedahda Formation (Cache Creek Complex) sediments and mafic volcanics of the Upper Mississippian to Permian Nakina Formation (Cache Creek Complex). These are intruded by Upper Mississippian to Permian ultramafic rocks (Cache Creek Complex) and alaskite of the Late Cretaceous Surprise Lake batholith (Surprise Lake Plutonic Suite). Tertiary-Quaternary olivine basalt and scoria overlie all other rock types on the eastern flank of Ruby Mountain and locally along Ruby Creek.
A gold occurrence is noted on the Geological Survey of Canada Map 218A about 2 kilometres north of Surprise Lake and 2 kilometres west of Ruby Creek. The same map shows the underlying country rocks as consisting of ultramafic rocks. No other information is available but it is assumed to be a quartz vein-type occurrence similar to showings 2 kilometres to the north (Ruby Mountain, 104N 127), and 4 kilometres to the west (Sunbeam, 104N 073, Black Diamond, 104N 053).
In 1987, Archean Engineering Ltd. And Mark Management Ltd. conducted work on behalf of Cream Silver Mines Ltd. on the Lakeview Property. A detailed exploration programme consisting of rock and soil geochemical sampling as well as electomagnetometer, induced polarization and ground magnetometer surveys followed by trenching, blasting, diamond, and rotary drilling was carried out on the property for the purpose of confirming and better delineating anomalous areas identified by previous work. The 1987 exploration programme outlined several mineralized zones with the potential for economic grades, however, much additional work is needed to fully assess this property. In the Lakeview and Whitestar Adit areas, three gold and silver bearing quartz vein systems were tested. On Ruby Mountain, massive sulfide skarn type mineralization was found.
Between July 2007 and March 2008, Adanac Molybdenum Corporation conducted a major diamond drill-program on the Adanac/Ruby Creek "porphyry molybdenum" property, near Atlin (Assessment Report 30306).
During May-June 2009, Blind Creek Resources Ltd. targeted listwanite gold associated rocks within the Atlin gold placer camp. The work included magnetic surveys, geochemical sampling, and prospecting. The objectives were to locate areas which could be drilled with a high confidence. Recommendations after the program was completed included diamond drilling of the Monarch Mountain-Pine Creek-Como Lake Triangle, immediately east of Atlin.
In 2016, two holes were drilled by Global Drilling Solutions on behalf of Zinex Mining Corporation on the Ruby Creek Property, targeting native gold. In 2017, Global conducted geochemical sampling, drilling and ground geophysics on this property. Rock sample 1532561 returned the highest gold value of all samples in proximity to the Gold 218A occurrence, at 0.3 grams per tonne (Assessment Report 37171). In 2018 Global carried out further geochemical sampling on this property, but samples in proximity to the Gold 218A occurrence returned insignificant gold values (Assessment Report 38256).
In 2021, an airborne SkyTEM survey was conducted by Stuhini Exploration on the Ruby Creek property, which revealed a number of regional trends across the property.
