The Motherlode 2 area is underlain by Middle to Late Triassic quartz dioritic rock with pendants of Mississippian and Pennsylvanian undivided volcanic rock of the Stikine assemblage. A Jurassic to Tertiary high-level quartz phyric, felsitic stock, with probable relation to the Sloko-Hyder Plutonic Suite, occurs to the east towards the Ant occurrence.
A gossanous orange soil area and/or outcrop area occurs on a rocky knoll, with something in contact with diorite, possibly quartz or carbonate vein. Reported to be so gossanous as to obscure the sample area. Three per cent sulphides are noted near malachite patches in rust. Abundant epidote is reported in showing vicinity. A sample taken at this site graded 1.2 grams per tonne gold, 4.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.14 per cent copper; lead and zinc were not anomalous (Sample W385564, Assessment Report 37139). A sample from diorite outcrop, located approximately 400 metres northwest of sample W385564, is reported to possibly contain disseminated sulphides. This sample assayed 0.3 gram per tonne gold and 0.4 gram per tonne silver (Sample W385563, Assessment Report 37139). This sample was collected approximately 400 metres northwest of sample W385564.
In 2016, a reconnaissance exploration program was conducted by J2 Syndicate Holdings on August 19th prior to staking the Motherlode claim. A total of 11 rock grab samples were collected within the newly named Cash Cow Trend that encompasses both the Chid Creek and Second Creek Showings.
The 2017 geochemical sampling survey consisted of a two-day program in August, conducted by two geologists and two prospectors. The purpose of the 2017 program was to follow-up on the 2016 prospective results with chip sampling, visit targets delineated by high resolution satellite imagery and to expand the geochemical knowledge of the area. A total of 64 samples were collected during the 2017 field season: 4 chip, 22 rock grab, 3 float, 9 talus fine, 19 soil and 7 silt samples. Samples taken on the Motherlode property in 2017 resulted in the new occurrence Motherlode 2.
In 2019, Brixton Metals Corporation expanded their Thorn property through staking and acquisition of several claims over their East Target area which contained seven mineral showings including Ant (104K 032), Bing (104K 035), East Ant Diorite (104K 152), Skarnface (104K 153), Bing Skarn (104K 166), Motherlode2 (104K 183) and Motherlode1 (104K 190).
In 2020 Brixton completed 3,025 metres of drilling within 16 core holes on the new Central Outlaw and West Outlaw zones on their Thorn property. A total of 1473 rock samples and 5588 soil samples were also collected throughout their expanded Thorn property (Press Release, Brixton Metals Corp., Dec.15, 2020). Brixton's East Target western soil anomaly is roughly 3 kilometres by 3 kilometres in area with a minimum of 100 parts per million copper with a central area (roughly 1.75 by 1.75 kilometres in area), within the larger soil anomaly, that is greater than or equal to 200 parts per million copper (see Figure 7, Press Release, Brixton Metals Corp., Dec.15, 2020). The Motherlode2 is located at or near the southeast boundary of the Brixton's East Target western soil anomaly.
