The Dot showing area is underlain by Mississippian rocks of the Stikine Assemblage that consist of variably foliated mafic to intermediate ash, aphyric, plagioclase and/or pyroxene-phyic flows and crystal-lithic lapilli tuff; rare felsic tuff; laminated to thin-bedded green and white calcareous metatuff; and minor pillow basalt. A quartz vein up to 0.6 metres wide in a strongly fractured mafic tuff has up to five per cent pyrite, with lesser chalcopyrite. A grab sample assayed 1.12 per cent copper, 10 parts per billion gold and 0.5 gram per tonne silver (Open File 1993-1, Lithogeochemical Analyses table, sheet 2 of 3).
In 1992, a BC Geological Survey geological mapping project in the Tatsamenie and Bearskin lakes area resulted in an updated regional geological framework. The Dot showing was discovered by a survey team.
