The Highliner area is regionally mapped being underlain by undivided arc volcanic and marine sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. A north-northeast trending fault separates these rocks from foliated quartz diorite of the Middle to Late Triassic, to the east. The volcanics and sediments, which strike 120 to 128 degrees and dip 35 to 55 degrees west, are intruded by rhyolitic dikes. Pennsylvanian tuffs and sediments and massive amygdaloidal basalts of the Stikine Assemblage occur about 5 kilometres to the north-northeast and southwest of the showing.

The Highliner Claim Group is underlain by greenstones and phyllites of the pre-Upper Triassic Stikine Terrane. A number of rhyolite(?) dikes cut the greenstone and phyllites. The claim area rock has little alteration beyond moderate chloritization of the greenstone.

Samples in 1983 were taken predominantly from mineralized quartz veins and altered rhyolite(?) dikes. Other lithologies sampled include an argillaceous black shale, and a pyritiferous ribbon chert bed. Very weak gold anomalies were detected in two of the rock samples, both quartz veins. Relatively high silver values (19.3, 18.5, 8.8 grams per tonne) were also associated with quartz veins except one, a quartz-carbonate breccia with extremely high arsenic and antimony values (greater than 1 per cent and greater than 0.1 per cent). Only one soil was anomalous in gold (60 parts per billion) and one silver (7.3 parts per million); the latter taken under one of the quartz veins (Assessment Report 11821).

A 10 to 30-centimetre mineralized breccia zone, with associated chalcedony and iron carbonate veins, occurs at the lower contact of a dike. Mineralization includes pyrite, chalcopyrite and possibly arsenopyrite, stibnite, chalcanthite and melanterite. A sample assayed 39.0 grams per tonne silver, over 1.0 per cent arsenic and over 0.1 per cent antimony (Assessment Report 11821).

WORK HISTORY

In 1983, the High and Liner claims were staked by Chevron Canada Ltd. Two days were spent mapping the HIGHLINER group on its eastern slopes. Although outcrop exposure is excellent, traverses are restricted because of rugged terrain. Soil contour traverses were used to obtain geochemical data in the claims rugged terrain. Two north-south lines on the western slope and one line on the eastern slope produced a total of 176 soil samples and 20 rock samples. Soil sample spacing was 50 metres, and the two lines on the west side of the property are generally 150 to 200 metres apart from one another.

In 1992, a BC Geological Survey geological mapping project in the Tatsamenie and Bearskin lakes area resulted in an updated regional geological framework and the discovery of several new showings including DB (104K 121), RO (104K 123) and Jon (104K 124).

In 2019, Brixton Metals Corporation expanded their Thorn property through staking and acquisition of claims including those covering all the Highliner (104K 099), Oro 4 (104K 100), DB (104K 121), RO (104K 123) and Jon (104K 124) showings.

In 2020, Brixton Metals Corporation completed a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, a 12.5 line-kilometre ground induced polarization survey, a 715 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey and 19 diamond drill holes, totalling 5292 metres, on the area of as part of the Thorn property. Drilling was performed on the Outlaw (MINFILE 104K 176) occurrence area. No work is reported on the Highliner showing since the initial work in 1983.
