The Ryder area is underlain by rock of the Devonian Stikine Assemblage.

In 2008, in the Ryder area, Roca Mines drilled 6 drill holes, totalling 2,081.9 meters in order to test several chargeability anomalies associated with altered and mineralized rhyolite. Four of these drill holes intersected weak VMS mineralization. The last hole, FM08-54, intersected a thick (250 metres plus) altered, dominantly felsic sequence, highly anomalous in base and precious metals, indicating that the VMS mineralizing system remains open to the northwest.

A 13.50 metre intersection (from Hole FM08-53) assayed 0.346 per cent copper, 0.021 per cent lead, 0.305 per cent zinc, 13.0 grams per tonne silver and 0.5 gram per tonne gold: this intersection included a 0.60 metre section assaying 1.497 per cent copper, 0.104 per cent lead 3.660 per cent zinc and 195.2 grams per tonne silver and 1.1 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 30426). Mineralogy from drill logs includes pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite.
