The area of the North Downpour occurrence is underlain by Middle Jurassic rocks of the Hazelton Group. The stratigraphy is dominated by carbonaceous marine siltstones and sandstones in the eastern (lower) part of the area and by mafic volcanic flow and pyroclastic rocks, felsic tuff, and interbedded siliceous sediment on the alpine ridges to the west.

Anomalous lead, zinc and silver values occur in quartz veins and quartz breccias in the sedimentary section in the east part of the area. One sample from 2004 assayed 5.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.36 per cent lead and 0.15 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 27692, Sample 209509).
