Capsule Geology

The area of the South zone is underlain by rock of the Lower to Middle Hazelton Group.

In 2015, drill hole SU-673 was drilled to test the possibility of low-grade gold continuity with the High Zone property “King Tut” hole, H12-01, drilled by Teuton Resources Corp in 2012. Low-grade mineralization in H12-01 was intersected at 300 metres, grading 0.88 gram per tonne gold over 222 metres (Teuton Resources, Press Release dated October 15, 2012). The South zone outcrop is mapped entirely as Bridge Zone Porphyry, a hornblende feldspar phyric latite to trachyandesite flow with weak to moderate silica-sericite-pyrite alteration. SU-673 was collared at the southern extent of this exposure, at 1610 meters elevation.

The South Zone hole proved that there is significant mineral potential below the glacier, with an average grade of 0.53 gram per tonne gold, 13.64 grams per tonne silver, and 54 parts per million molybdenum, from 632.85 metres to the end of hole, a total of 561.55 metres length (Assessment Report 36214). This included a 3.5 metres interval at 1022.5 metres with 1.31 grams per tonne gold, 340.14 grams per tonne silver, 0.11 per cent lead and 0.24 per cent zinc, as well as a 3 metre interval at 1117.5 metres with 6.34 grams per tonne gold, 24.40 grams per tonne silver, and 0.64 per cent copper (Assessment Report 36214). The mineralization is hosted by sub-centimetre, pyrite and molybdenum-bearing, quartz-calcite veins, 1 to 5 per cent in abundance, in a moderate- to strongly silica-sericite-pyrite altered porphyritic volcanic. The upper part of the hole was less altered and veined, cut by several mafic dikes.

Refer to West (104B 193) for details of related mineralization and an up-to-date common work history relating to the Brucejack project of Pretium Resources, which encompasses the South Zone.
