In the Tennyson Porphyry area, the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation is unconformably overlain by Lower Middle and Middle Jurassic rocks from the Betty Creek and Salmon River Formations, respectively, all of the Hazelton Group.

Drill Holes TN11-01 to 04 were put down to test the lateral extension of the porphyry copper-gold mineralization discovered in 1992 and 2010 in the extreme northwest area of the Tennyson gossan. Copper-gold mineralization is hosted within a pale grey-green, massive to fine grained, sericite-chlorite altered semi-schist, altered felsic tuff, black siliceous siltstone, argillite and intermediate intrusive rock. The zone consists of fine-grained disseminated chalcopyrite and remobilized secondary copper mineralization within blebs associated with quartz-carbonate stockwork veins. The sixteen holes drilled in 2011 have proven 450 metres of continuity to the copper-gold system. The zone remains open to the west and southwest and mineralogical indications suggest that this may be the direction toward the center of the porphyry copper-gold zone.

Work History

In 1984, snow and ice ablation exposed a prominent gossan at the head of Berendon Glacier which was then staked as the Tennyson claims on behalf of Teuton Resources Corp. An airborne survey carried out over the property by Teuton Resources Corp later that year disclosed a sharp, localized magnetic anomaly on the Tennyson 1 and 2 claims. Samples taken at that time showed copper values to 6 per cent in the vicinity of the anomaly, and gold values to 12 grams per tonne gold in bedded sulphides 100 metres west of the anomaly (as reported in Assessment Report 33028).

In 1985, Teuton defined several promising areas of gold mineralization within a large gossaned area measuring 750 by 450 metres. Gold values were obtained primarily in association with pyritic bands, and were accompanied, variously, by values in silver, copper, lead, zinc, and molybdenum. Limited geochemical soil sampling of the overburden covered central portion of the gossan yielded values to 2.32 grams per tonne gold and averaging 0.63 gram per tonne gold ((as reported in Assessment Report 33028).

Six holes drilled in 1986 by Consolidated BRX Mining and Petroleum Ltd., at the time an optionee of the property, tested various portions of the gossan. The fourth hole of this program intersected a high-grade section featuring pervasive clay alteration and hydrothermal brecciation, and assaying 41.14 grams per tonne gold over 2.1 metres (Assessment Report 15789). During the same period, minor surface sampling was undertaken. This work partially tested the "Camp Zone": 8 samples across lm widths outlined 32.5 metres of strike averaging 8.06 grams per tonne gold and 5.07 grams per tonne silver. This zone appeared to be open along strike to the west, while continuity to the east was uncertain. An epithermal deposit type was suggested at the time.

In 1986, a further four holes were then drilled by subsequent optionee, Westlake Resources Inc., to test the postulated southern strike extension of the Hole 86-4 high-grade mineralization. These did not encounter similar grades within the same horizon.

In 1988, Keylock Resources and Catear Resources, the next companies to option the property, conducted a rock geochemistry and diamond drill program on the property. A total of 349 rock samples were collected. A total of 8 short drill holes indicated gold values in four of the holes. Values 13.92 grams per tonne gold over 3.1 metres (as reported in Assessment Report 33028).

In 1990, Keylock and Catear carried out another surface program consisting of prospecting, rock sampling, trenching and geological mapping. The rock sampling program indicated values ranging up to 123.46 grams per tonne gold and 270.17 grams per tonne silver and 3.09 per cent copper; trenching in the southeast portion of the gossan returned values up to 0.42 per cent copper over 12 metres (as reported in Assessment Report 33028).

In 1991, trenching and rock sampling (69) was conducted by Teuton Resources on the Tennyson 1-4 claim (Assessment Report 21197).

In 1992, Teuton drilled 6 holes totalling 530.7 metres into a newly exposed section of rock which emerged from under the ice lying just beyond the northwest corner of the gossan (Assessment Reports 22714 and 23188). Holes tested epithermal and porphyry style mineralization Trenching undertaken previous to the drilling had determined the area was underlain by porphyry type mineralization.

In 2004 a small rock geochemical survey was undertaken along the northern and western margins of the gossan. Altogether 28 samples were taken; 4 float, 10 chip and 14 grab were collected (Assessment Report 28016).

In 2009, Teuton drilled two holes totalling 610.5 meters near the southwest corner of the gossan, one of which yielded an intersection running 19.8 grading 2.0 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 31571). Sampling undertaken previous to the drilling revealed the area was anomalous in gold and arsenic.

In 2010, Teuton drilled 1698.3 metres in 10 holes. The first three holes, TN10-01, 02, 03, were designed to test the vertical, north, and northwestern extension of the epithermal zone discovered in 2009 (104B 167). Hole TN10-03 contained a 13.72 metre interval that assayed 1.66 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 32565). Holes TN10-07, 08, 09, and 10 were fanned out from a third pad to test the potential at the southwestern portion of the gossan. Holes TN10-04, TN10-05, and TN10-06 were drilled to test for copper-gold bearing porphyry mineralization of the type found during the 1992 drilling. Hole TN10-04 was drilled vertically, intersecting 124 metres of moderately silicified, greenish-grey, crystal/ash tuff containing 7-10 per cent quartz/calcite stockwork, 5-7 per cent disseminated and weakly banded pyrite, and trace to 1 per cent disseminated fine grained chalcopyrite. All three holes were successful in intersecting broad widths of copper-gold mineralization. Hole TN10-04 yielded copper and gold values ranging to a high of 0.71 per cent and 1.02 grams per tonne, respectively (Assessment Report 32565).

In 2011, sixteen holes totaling 3,123 metres were drilled from three separate pads targeting a zone of porphyry type copper-gold mineralization in the northwestern quadrant of the core claims. All sixteen holes were successful in intersecting broad widths of copper-gold mineralization, ranging from 0.21 to 0.44 per cent copper and 0.12 to 0.32 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 33028).
