The SG zone is underlain by Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group volcanics and sediments that are in part quartz-sericite-pyrite altered. The zone is comprised of at least three vein systems: Genevieve, Spiff and Bart. The west trending Genevieve is the dominant vein system with the Spiff and Bart being southeast trending splays. The three veins are comprised of quartz vein and stockwork along with breccia. Vein mineralogy consists of up to 5 per cent disseminated pyrite along with up to 1 per cent arsenopyrite. The Genevieve has been traced for 260 metres with widths variable to 12.55 metres. Grades throughout are variable. A segment of the zone averaged 20.70 grams per tonne gold with 38.40 grams per tonne silver over a 3.00 metre width (Assessment Report 22657).

The zone is open along strike to the west while to the east it is either cut off or displaced by the Brucejack Fault. The zone dips steeply to the south. The Spiff zone has been traced for 30 metres with the zone open along strike to the southeast. Two trenches located in the zone showed it to average 11.07 grams per tonne gold and with 64.11 grams per tonne silver over a width of 1.87 metres (Assessment Report 22657). The Bart vein has been traced for 30 metres. It is open along strike to the southeast. The only trench located on the zone averaged 5.73 grams per tonne gold and 15.43 grams per tonne silver over 2.90 metres (Assessment Report 22657). Surrounding all three vein systems is a gold-bearing shell of quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration.

In 1992, Newhawk Gold Mines completed mapping of the zone, 162.04 metres of backhoe trenching in 8 trenches, 275.16 metres of channel sampling in trenches, and the taking of 319 channel and 20 rock chip samples (Assessment Report 22657). A 1993 program was tested the zone further with 7 drill holes, totalling 874 metres. Results of only one hole (93-41) was reported on (Assessment Report 23169). Silver Standard Resources discussed the zone in their 2011 report (Assessment Report 32074).

In 2009, Silver Standard Resources Inc. tested the SG with four drill holes. Highlights from the SG zone include: SU-01, which intersected 39 metres of 1.06 grams of gold per tonne and SU-04, which intersected 75 metres of 1.62 grams of gold per tonne, including 27 metres of 2.57 grams of gold per tonne (Silver Standard Resources Inc., Press Release, August 5, 2009.)

In 2011, Pretium Resources Inc. calculated a mineral resource that included mineralization at the SG (Press Release, November 11, 2011).

Refer to West (MINFILE 104B 193) for details of related mineralization and work history.
