The For showing area is underlain by Upper Triassic Stuhini Group volcanic rocks.
Pyrite and chalcopyrite stringers, most with associated malachite staining, occur at several locations on the For properties, particularly in the southwest and central-northeast areas. These stringers range from 1 to 20 millimetres, and seem to occur in sinuous fractures. Often, the stringers are associated with faults cutting the andesite and intermediate lapilli tuffs of the Stuhini Group though they do not necessarily follow the fault zone. Most of the Stuhini Group volcanics have trace amounts to 3 per cent disseminated pyrite. In the southwestern part of the For properties, these chalcopyrite stringers are closely associated with the orange-weathering fault zones. These orange weathering zones, as mentioned, localize carbonate (siderite) - hematite alteration, and quartz and carbonate veins up to 50 centimetres thick.
There are massive sulphide layers and pods present in the central part of the For properties in possible Stikine assemblage basalts and cherts along the central drainage. These layers which are up to 15 centimetres thick are composed solely of pyrite. They are laterally discontinuous and hosted by laminated chert layers that are inclusions within chloritized pillow basalts.
In 1988 the Forgold North Area was staked as the For property for Ecstall Mining Corporation and Omega Gold Corporation to cover favourable Triassic volcanic rocks and Jurassic volcanic and sediment rocks. The 1989 exploration program included geologic mapping, reconnaissance stream sediment survey (27 silts) and reconnaissance rock sampling (17 rocks).
In 1990 the For property (Forgold North area) was revisited and a detailed mapping and sampling project (171 rock; 194 silt; 30 moss mat; 4 soil) corroborated previous (1989) anomalies and delineated new target zones. Several samples returned copper assays with 1 to 2 per cent copper and 1 assay up to 15 per cent copper (Assessment Report 20598, 32093). Copper mineralization was found to be hosted in narrow fractures. The For group was owned by Ecstall Mining Corp, Omega Gold Corp and High Frontier Resources Inc. Kennecott Exploration (Canada) Ltd acquired an option to earn an interest in the For property in 1990 from High Frontier.
In 1991, Kennecott initiated an airborne magnetic, electromagnetic and VLF-EM survey that covered the For property. 425 linear kilometers was flown with 100 metre line spacing. The survey identified 1 conductor on the property.
