The area of the Ker 6 is underlain by Upper Paleozoic rocks of the Stikine Assemblage consisting of limestone. These are in further east with Stikine Assemblage basalts, andesite flows and pyroclastic rocks. Very narrow northeast trending fractures carry sulphide mineralization. Fractures are widely spaced and fairly localized.

Mineralization consists of tetrahedrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena in barite - carbonate veins as well as fine quartz veins in limestones. Magnetite is reported in skarn zones. Rock samples assayed up to 2686.65 grams per tonne silver, 0.16 per cent copper, 1.1 per cent lead and greater than 2 per cent zinc (Sample 2154, Assessment Report 19148). Another sample yielded up to 0.75 gram per tonne gold.

Work History

In 1988, Kestrel Resources Ltd conducted a preliminary program of prospecting, sampling and geological mapping on the Ker 1-7 mineral claims. A total of 28 rock chip samples and 3 silt samples were collected.

In 1990, Kestrel completed two 100 metre lines of 3 metre continuous chip sampling in order to check continuity of mineralization in two different areas. A total of 75 rock chip samples were collected. Results of this sampling, although on the low side, were reported to have shown that the mineralization is erratic, possibly due to widespread narrow shears and veins.

In 2012 the claims covering the Ker 6 were owned by McLymont Mines. These may be part of the tenure packaged being explored under an agreement with Romios Gold Resources.
