Late Devonian intrusive rocks of the McLymont Plutonic Suite form a large mass on the southeast of the Newmont fault. The fault itself forms the southeast bounding fault of the McLymont graben. The Kerr 5 showing occurs about 1 kilometre southeast of the fault.
The QS showing is hosted within a complex series of intrusive injection breccias. Phases include coarse-grained acid intrusives intruding dioritic phases, both of which are cut by aphyric mafic dikes.
The showing consists of an area of moderate to widely spaced quartz vein stockworks. Individual veins vary in width from 0.1 to 1.1 metres with preferred orientations of 210 degrees with vertical dip and 130 degrees/80 degrees west dip. Mineralization consists of 1 to 5 per cent disseminated pyrite with minor amounts of chalcopyrite. Alteration can be locally moderate to strongly limonitic. To date, assay results from individual veins have yielded low values in base and precious metal content.
The QS occurrence was not located in 2019. Weak copper and zinc enrichment were noted in one sample collected from a quartz vein, 160 metres upslope from the MINFILE location plot. Work in 2019 did observe elevated white mica throughout.
In 2019, Crystal Lake Mining (name since changed to Enduro Metals Corporation) collected 2070 rock samples and 6125 hyperspectral measurements throughout the Newmont Lake property. The area was also extensively covered by the property-wide soil sampling program. A total of 2624 soils samples were collected, with a main focus around the Chachi Corridor (including QS area), Cuba, North/Kerr Glacier, and Thumper areas. In addition to geological and geochemical work, approximately 18 line-kilometres of an Induced Polarization (IP) survey was completed along the northern portion of the west side of the Chachi corridor over known showings that included QS (104B 446), Tetra (104B 448), Chochi (104B 461), Tic 5 (104B 549), Leo (104B 717), Brass Rose (104B 723) and Grey Rose (104B 728).
See the nearby Tetra occurrence (104B 448) for related work history details and Northwest (104B 281) for details of work history completed on the larger Newmont Lake property.
