Capsule Geology

The Gab 1-Ridge showing is underlain by Devonian sedimentary and volcanic rock west of Late Devonian McLymont Plutonic Suite intrusive rock. Several mineralized skarn occurrences were located in the west and southwest corner of the Gab 1 in 1991.

A helicopter airborne geophysical survey was conducted over the property(1987-1988) resulted in the identification of four electromagnetic conductors. These conductive zones are associated with mineral occurrences, located later in 1988, and their possible strike extensions. In 1988 prospecting crews, upon arrival to the Gab 1 ridge, located a North and South zone separated by 300 metres of snow. These two zones comprise the Ridge showing. Sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite, arsenopyrite, tennantite, argentite, pyrite associated with altered limestone beds (skarns) have been traced, by prospecting crews, for 600 metres along strike. Smithsonjte forms a thin patina along fracture within the breccia. Skarn assemblage consist of quartz, calcite, chlorite and epidote.

Gold values up to 0.74 grams per tonne were obtained from rock samples in 1988 (Assessment Report 18490). A sample taken in 1991 assayed 46.0 grams per tonne silver, 0.45 per cent copper, 0.51 per cent lead, 0.86 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 21149).

Structural and orthophoto interpretation work was performed on the Gab 5 to 10 claim area in 1987 on behalf of Northwest Gold Syndicate (Assessment Report 17211). In 1988, on behalf of Achilles Resources Ltd. a reconnaissance. helicopter airborne geophysical survey was conducted over the property by Aerodat Ltd. from November, 1987 to June, 1988. A total of 2000 kilometres of recorded data was taken on 29 flights in 23 separate areas. Ground crews conducted follow-up work collecting 140 rock, 79 silt and 103 samples. The Ridge showing was discovered.

During August, 1991 at the request of Consolidated Caprock Resources Ltd., Pamicon Developments Ltd. carried out a small field exploration program on the company's Gab 1-4 claims. Several mineralized skarn occurrences were located in the west and southwest corner of the Gab 1 claim in 1991.

See Northwest (104B 281) for details of work after the amalgamation of tenures by Romios Gold Resources Inc in the 2000s, when airborne geophysics was done over significant land areas and some specific work on various mineral occurrences was reported.
