At the Mayan showing, mineralization occurs as minor disseminations and fracture-fillings of pyrite and lesser chalcopyrite hosted within felsic intrusive and andesitic volcanic rocks of the Devonian to Permian Stikine Assemblage.
A 5 centimeter wide quartz, carbonate, barite vein contains 1.5 per cent blebs of chalcopyrite, hosted in andesite. A select sample assayed 2.4 per cent copper and 10 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 24834). The vein was deemed too limited in size to warrant further follow-up.
The Mayan 1 claim was explored in 1996 on behalf of Connecticut Development Corp,
when 6 rock and 8 stream sediment samples were collected. Prior to 1996 the claims were held as part of the Joy 3 and 4, though no work was recorded.
In 2006 and 2007, Hathor Exploration Ltd. completed a 7228.7 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the IS claims of the Iskut project. In 2008, Max Minerals Ltd. examined the property.
