The Scottie North occurrence lies 1.5 kilometres northeast of the Scottie Gold deposit (104B 034). It is hosted by volcaniclastic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation of the Hazelton Group. These rocks consist of green andesitic breccia and conglomerate, with thin intercalated volcanic sandstones and tuffaceous bands. The Lower Jurassic Summit Lake Stock, comprised of hornblende quartz monzonite and/or hornblende granodiorite, lies to the west.
Alteration in the area is characterized by the development of fine-grained pyrrhotite or pyrite in the volcanic host and local development of silicification, chloritization and carbonate alteration.
The mineral occurrences consist of very irregular siliceous replacement bodies containing discontinuous veinlets and large masses of sulphides. The mineralization appears unrelated to any definite structural feature but there are several unmineralized, northwest and west trending shear zones with branching structures into which some of the mineralized zones tend to merge and die out.
The sulphide mineralization is characterized by abundant fine-grained pyrrhotite with smaller amounts of pyrite, arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite, with minor sphalerite and galena. The gold content is erratic and is apparently not proportional to the total sulphides.
The massive sulphide bodies are scattered over a 150 metre, north-trending area. Channel sampling of a lens within the northerly occurrences, gave values of 51 grams per tonne gold and 58.3 grams per tonne silver over 11.3 metres. A 7.3 metre channel sample, 100 metres to the south, assayed 40.8 grams per tonne gold and 106.3 grams per tonne silver. (Annual Report 1946).
In 2015 geochemical sampling by Eilat Exploration Ltd consisted of 30 rock, 25 soil (natural undisturbed sites), and 9 soil from mine waste sites. Rock chip sampling was carried out in an area immediately north and west of Scottie North (104B 074), which is held by Rotation Minerals. A total of 5 samples taken yielded geochemical analysis values from 1.64 to 6.74 grams per tonne gold, up to 54 grams per tonne silver and significant values in copper, lead and zinc (Assessment Report 35805).
In 2016, a total of 2648.78 meters of diamond drilling was completed in 21 holes from 5 different pads by Rotation Minerals. A total of 1935.36 metres of drilling was completed on the Sum 1 claim. Diamond drilling was carried out on an area called the “C” and “D” zones in previous work. This area is about 2 kilometres northeast of the mine workings and is readily accessible through the nearby mine access roads. In 2016, drilling by Rotation intersected up to 1.13 metres of 31.54 grams per tonne gold in DDH-SG-4. Drilling was primarily focused on the intersection of the projected C and D veins (Rotation Minerals Ltd., News Release, October 18, 2016; Assessment Report 33674).
In 2016, Triangle Exploration Limited (optionee from Eilat Explorations) completed a 566-kilometre airborne magnetic and radiometric survey which extends east, north and south from the eastern shore of Summit Lake to the eastern boundary of Eilat Exploration's 2012 airborne survey. The 2016 survey is a continuation of the airborne survey flown for Eilat Exploration in 2012 (Assessment Report 33511). Data collected from the 2016 Summit Lake survey block were merged with data collected in 2012 (Assessment Report 36318). The combined data covers 10 mineral occurrences documented in MINFILE: Scottie Gold (104B 034), St. Eugene (104B 036), Scottie North (104B 074), Blueberry (104B 133), Hicks (104B 139), Summit 5 (104B 436), Summit Gossan (104B 648), Summit Nunatak (104B 649), Glacier Edge (104B 650). Scottie Gold mine and the outlying areas (Scottie North) held by Rotation Minerals Ltd are covered by the combined 2012 to 2016 airborne survey.
During 2018 through 2020, Scottie Resources Corp. completed programs of rock and auger (tailings) sampling, airborne and ground geophysical surveys and diamond drilling on the Scottie Gold property.
