The AAA 48 occurrence is located south of the Strandby River, approximately 6.9 kilometres northwest of the community of Holberg.
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group) volcanics that have undergone regional zeolite facies metamorphism. The volcanics trend northwest and consist mainly of massive, green to purple, amygdaloidal basalt.
Locally, small fracture systems in the volcanics are in-filled with quartz hosting minor disseminated bornite and malachite.
