The V3 occurrence is located 6 kilometres southwest of Johanson Lake, on the slope directly east of Solo Lake (informal name for lake near the head of Solo Creek). It comprises precious metal-bearing quartz veins that were sampled during an exploration program by Laramie Mining Corporation in 1986 (Assessment Report 15313). The veins are within minor shears associated with a northwest-striking fault zone that cuts volcanic sandstones, siltstones and breccias of the Upper Triassic Takla Group (Open File 2005-4). They are near the northeast margin of a Late Triassic dioritic stock that also hosts structurally-controlled gold-bearing vein systems, including the Solo (MINFILE 094D 012) and Bruce (MINFILE 094D 013) occurrences. Three different veins were sampled at the V3 occurrence, and all contained greater than 7 grams per tonne silver, and anomalous gold. The best gold value came from sample V3, which yielded 1.3 grams per tonne gold and 12.0 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 15313).

While Laramie Mining discovered the V3 showing in 1986 most of their work was conducted on the Goldway Veins and the newly discovered Glacier zone (094D 136). About 140 grab and chip samples were collected from newly discovered zones of quartz veining and a 1360 tonne bulk sample was taken from an accessible portion of the “A” vein.

In 1990, Jetta Resources conducted work mostly on the M Veins and Phyllite Veins (Goldway (094D 027)). Jetta reviewed, summarized and published the 1986 Glacier zone data by von Rosen. It does not appear that Jetta completed any new work on the Glacier zone, which is located about 1.5 kilometres east-northeast of the Goldway occurrence. Jetta also appears to have conducted a rock sampling traverse in the area to the northeast of Solo Lake (in the V3 showing area) heading southeast for about 800 metres (Figure 8, Assessment Report 21394). Sample AY209, located about 300 metres southeast of the plotted V3 occurrence graded 1.79 grams per tonne gold and 14.2 grams per tonne silver (Figure 9, Assessment Report 21394).

In 1995, Hemlo Gold Mines Inc. continued work on several of the properties described in 1994. Drilling was completed on the Soup and Granite Basin projects while further geological and geochemical surveys were conducted on the Darb and Mariposite projects. In 1995, on the Mariposite property, a total of 111 soils, 508 rocks were collected of which 142 rocks were applied for assessment (Assessment Report 24138, 24238). Assay results reported to have been yielded “...from the 743 rock samples collected during the 1994/95 programs revealed that 70 samples returned results of greater than or equal to 0.5 gram per tonne gold...”, roughly 9 per cent of the total sample population (Assessment Report 24138, 24778). Four samples taken in the V3 area yielded up to 0.345 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24138, 24238, 24778).

Refer to Goldway (094D 027) and Bruce (094D 013) for further details of work done by Laramie and others in the vicinity.
