The GULLY occurrence is located on a steep north-northeast facing slope above a small lake in the southwestern headwaters of Thane Creek, approximately 13 kilometres west of Uslika Lake and 58 kilometres northwest of the community of Germansen Landing. As part of the Thane property (2025), lying between the Osilinka and Mesilinka river valleys, the area is approximately 180 kilometres northwest of Mackenzie and 185 kilometres north-northeast of Smithers.
The area is underlain by quartz monzonitic to monzogranitic intrusive rocks of the Triassic-Jurassic Hogem Plutonic Suite. Numerous dikes, sills and small stocks are noted in both the main geological units. These small intrusions are generally related to the Hogem suite. The system observed in the Gully area is proximal to and outboard of the north trending Middle Jurassic Duckling Creek (quartz) monzonite to syenite complex that intrudes the Upper Triassic Thane Creek diorite to (quartz) monzodiorite intrusive phases.
The type of mineralization is similar to the Cathedral (MINFILE 094C 181) occurrence. Sulphide mineralization is commonly observed through all rocks. The most abundant sulphides include pyrite and chalcopyrite with sphalerite, arsenopyrite and molybdenite in trace amounts. The main style of mineralization is fine-grained disseminations with local fracture-fill. Strong chlorite alteration and quartz veining are associated with the best mineralization which appears to be associated with intermediate rock types; monzodiorites, diorites, and locally massive andesites.
A chip sample (2306) from the Gully occurrence assayed 3.93 grams per tonne gold and 3.8 grams per tonne silver over 1.50 metres, whereas a rock sample from the occurrence yielded 3.02 per cent copper and 5.09 grams per tonne gold (Vanderwart Consulting Inc. [2021-07-12]: Technical Report on the Thane Copper-Gold Project, Omineca Mining Division, British Columbia, Canada). Also at this time, another rock sample taken approximately 750 metres to the southwest yielded 4.51 per cent copper and 0.115 gram per tonne gold (Vanderwart Consulting Inc. [2021-07-12]: Technical Report on the Thane Copper-Gold Project, Omineca Mining Division, British Columbia, Canada).
Drilling highlights from three holes drilled in the Gully area in 2021 include TH21-7, a 24.5 metre intersection, from 70 to 94.5 metres downhole, grading 0.13 per cent copper, 0.03 gram per tonne gold, 0.3 gram per tonne silver and 0.00041 per cent molybdenum, including 2.5 metres of 0.84 per cent copper, 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 2.0 grams per tonne silver and 0.00021 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 40622).
Work History
In 2020, Interra Copper Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock, soil and stream sediment) sampling and a 14.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area as the Thane property. Interra continued exploration on their Thane property in 2021, with geological mapping, rock and soil sampling at the Pinnacle and Gail areas, soil sampling at the Mat showing and an airborne helicopter magnetic survey at Cathedral. In addition, 2783 metres of NQ diamond drilling was accomplished in 12 holes, to test the depth potential of the prospective Cathedral, Pinnacle, and Gully target areas (Assessment Report 40622). Three holes (TH21-7, 8 and 11) were drilled in the Gully showing area.
Interra Copper Corp. changed their name to Copper Quest Exploration Inc. in early 2025 (Press Release, Copper Quest Exploration Inc., Feb. 26, 2025).
