The region of the Mike occurrence is underlain by two phases of the Hogem batholith that intrude sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Inzana Lake Formation, Takla Group. One phase consists of Late Triassic to Early Jurassic gabbroic to dioritic rocks. The second phase consists of Early Jurassic quartz monzonitic to monzogranitic intrusive rocks.
Mike showing is reported to be located at 22.7 kilometre on the T-Road where a rock pit on the north side of the road exposes a monzonite to diorite brecciated intrusive. Mineralization consists of chalcopyrite/bornite in diorite breccia fragments contained within the monzonite body. Several small suboutcrop exposures are scattered in the bottom of the rock pit.
Work History
The showing was discovered by Lorne and Chris Warren while prospecting in 1999.
In 2015, Pacific Empire Minerals Corporation explored the nearby Majazz property. A total of 351 soil samples were collected at 100-metre intervals along lines spaced 200 metres apart. Soil samples were collected from the B horizon with a soil auger. In addition, one rock sample was collected from outcrop where saussurite alteration and chalcopyrite mineralization were observed. The 2016 soil geochemistry program consisted of collecting 35 soil samples followed by XRF analysis. Soil sampling confirmed the presence of copper and molybdenum in soils in the southwest portion of the property. The anomalous zone is approximately 800 metres by 400 metres (Assessment Report 36504).
