Capsule Geology

The Gun occurrence is located in an area of subdued topography and extensive glacial till cover between the Klawli River and Ahdatay Creek, approximately 3.5 kilometres northeast of the creeks’ mouth on Tchentlo Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Lower Jurassic Chuchi Lake Formation (Takla Group), which have been intruded by monzonitic to syenitic and quartz monzonitic to monzogranitic intrusive phases of the Lower Jurassic Hogem Intrusive Complex.

Locally, granodiorite and syenite are slightly silicified and chloritized. Malachite staining occurs in one location.

Work History

In 1971, the Gun 1-20, Bid 1-46 and Pit 1-18 claims were staked on the area and later optioned by Denison Mines Ltd., who completed a program of soil sampling and ground magnetometer and induced polarization surveys on the claims.

Also in the 1970 and 1971, Caliente Mining Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, soil sampling and ground geophysical surveys on the area as the Ginny and EM claims.

In 2007, Solomon Resources Ltd. completed a program of geochemical (soil and silt) sampling and a 1458.4 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Col-Magnet property.

Following acquisition of the Later 1-12 claims in June 2012, Pacific Empire Minerals Corp. (PEMC) conducted reconnaissance of existing logging roads, prospecting, data compilation and reconnaissance soil geochemistry. Logging roads and historic access trails were mapped and digitized and 72 soil samples were collected.

In 2013, Pacific Empire Minerals Corp., in conjunction with Nation River Resources Ltd. and Indata Resources Ltd., completed a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and historical data compilation on the area as part of the Col-Later-Klawback property. The following year, a 44.3 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed on three grids of the Later property, including the area immediately north of the Gun occurrence. Further exploration programs were completed on the property during 2015 through 2017, though no work was performed on the Gun occurrence.
