Capsule Geology

The GHJ 1 occurrence is located near the western shore of Natowite Like, approximately 4.7 kilometres south of the south end of East Hautete Lake.

The area is underlain by Early Jurassic sedimentary rocks of the Nilkitkwa Formation of the Hazelton Group. The strata are intruded by syenite to monzonite of the Middle Jurassic Spike Creek Intrusive Suite.

Sample 21411, taken in 1996, consisted of fine-grained grey-black pyritic shale with dark sphalerite and galena. The sample assayed 2.37 per cent lead, 177.0 grams per tonne silver and greater than 10 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 24767).

Work History

In 1996, Golden Kootenay Resource conducted work on the Hearne group of claims (Assessment Report 24767). The Golden Key grid was installed, then the Lucky Key 7 grid and finally the Lucky Key 4 grid. These three areas comprise a total of 11 kilometres of baseline and 39.2 kilometres of gridlines for a total of 50.2 kilometres of line. A total of 39.2 kilometres of line underwent both magnetometer and single station VLF-EM. A total of 6 kilometres of self-potential was conducted. A total of 37 rock samples were cut with a diamond saw, logged and portions of the representative samples were bagged. A total of 115 soil samples were taken on the Lucky Key 7 Grid area. At least one rock sample (sample 21411 on the GHJ 1 claim) yielded high values in lead, zinc and silver.

In 2011, Kenneth Galambos completed a 1300 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Nat property. The following year, a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling was completed. Two float grab samples (42464 and 42465) assayed 0.277 and 0.339 per cent copper with 0.106 and 0.224 gram per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 33936).

During 2013 through 2017, further programs of prospecting and rock sampling were completed on the Nat property by Kenneth Galambos. Float samples collected in 2014 yielded up to 0.863 gram per tonne gold (Sample 103551; Assessment Report 35107).
