Capsule Geology

The Copper 1-4 claims are is located 14 kilometres northeast of the Bell Copper mine (093M 001), approximately 2.5 kilometres west of Natowite Lake. The showing was discovered in 1986.

The area is underlain by sedimentary and volcanic rocks comprising limestone, shale, quartzite and andesitic tuff of the Jurassic Hazelton Group (possibly of the Smithers Formation).

An east-northeast striking silver-lead-zinc fissure vein has been exposed for 13 metres along strike in a gravel pit hosted in pelitic and arenaceous sediments. Mineralization consists of galena and sphalerite in pods, veinlets and stringers within a crush and gouge zone. The gouge zone, 10 to 20 centimetres wide, and the host rocks contain some graphite. The wallrock exhibits oxidation and clay development.

The best assay from sampling, taken across 10 centimetres of vein and 5 centimetres of wallrock, assayed 713.7 grams per tonne silver, 23 per cent lead and 13.5 per cent zinc (Property File - Gold Canyon Resources Inc., Prospectus, 1987).

Work History

A 12.9 kilometre ground electromagnetic (HLEM) survey was conducted on the Danny Boy 1-2 claims in 1986 by Golden Canyon Resources. It was reported that a narrow vein of lead and zinc sulphide mineralization occurs on the property, striking northwesterly (Assessment Report 16292).

In 1986, four 2-post Copper claims were staked adjacent to a logging road as a result of excavation of gravel for road construction that uncovered a silver-lead-zinc vein. In 1997, Evergreen Explorations Ltd collected 40 soil samples over the area. Five areas were anomalous in "heavy metals" (Assessment Report 16785).

In 2011, a 2845 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey was carried out by Astorius Resources Ltd over ground that encompassed the Copper 1-4 vein. The magnetic pattern could be used to map the underlying stratigraphy with the sedimentary rocks exhibiting a smooth low magnetic response, the volcanics a higher response with high frequency chop, and the intrusives a higher but smoother signature in a limited size.

Also in 2011, Kenneth Galambos completed a 1300 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Nat property. The following year, a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling was completed.

During 2013 through 2017, further programs of prospecting and rock sampling was completed on the Nat property by Kenneth Galambos. A grab sample (1043624) of broken bedrock comprising an oxidized fine-grained sediment with galena and chalcopyrite(?) assayed 0.594 per cent zinc, whereas two nearby samples (1043627 and 1043628) of broken bedrock float quartz with galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite assayed greater than 20 per cent lead each, 12 and 21.4 per cent zinc, and 0.585 and 0.131 per cent copper with 1295 and 939 grams per tonne silver, respectively (Assessment Report 37532).
