The Tribune showing is underlain by Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) volcanics comprised of andesitic to rhyolitic flows, tuffs, and breccia with minor intercalated sediments. The volcanics are intruded by a Late Cretaceous to Eocene quartz-feldspar porphyry stock and associated felsite dikes with quartz or quartz-calcite stringers.

A quartz vein, 20 to 46 centimetres wide, striking north 328 degrees and dipping 70 degrees southwest, hosts chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite mineralization. In 1914, a 30 centimetre sample taken across the vein assayed trace gold, 994.3 grams per tonne silver and 1.8 per cent copper (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1914, page 221). The vein is traceable for 91 metres and was exposed along a 35 metre crosscut tunnel. In 1911, a sample across the vein assayed 0.69 gram per tonne gold, 846.9 grams per tonne silver, and 2.1 per cent copper (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1911, page 112).

Several occurrences of malachite along fracture zones in the volcanic host are reported to occur between the Colorado Tunnel (093L 043) and the Tribune Shaft. The Tribune claim adjoins the Hunter claim (093L 042) to the north and is located northeast of the Colorado workings (093L 043).

In 2007, Lions Gate Energy Corp conducted an Aerotem airborne geophysical survey on parts of the El Toro property which also covered the Hunter Basin area that included Idaho (093L 040), King (093L 041), Hunter (093L 042), Colorado (093L 043), Rainbow (093L 044), Tribune (093L 255) and Hannah (093L 080)(Assessment Report 29456).

The 2008 El Toro program of Lions Gate Energy Inc conducted 1495 line kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic geophysical survey covered the Hunter Basin area that included Idaho (093L 040), King (093L 041), Hunter (093L 042), Colorado (093L 043), Rainbow (093L 044), Tribune (093L 255) and Hannah (093L 080).

In 2008, Lions Gate Energy examined the Tribune shaft that was located 450 metres along trend to the northeast of the Colorado. Similar mineralization to the Colorado was found but also with minor galena and sphalerite. A sample (14560) from the Tribune shaft area assayed 1.44 per cent copper and 540 grams per tonne silver (Pautler, J. (2009-07-15): Technical Report on the El Toro Project).
