The claims are underlain by Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group volcanics comprised mainly of andesitic to rhyolitic flows, tuff and breccia. In the southwest section of the claim (Joe 1 - 093L 168) a small syenite intrusion outcrops and hosts 1 to 1.5 per cent disseminated magnetite.

Source 1 (Joe 85 claim) hosts a gossanous, light green andesite containing disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. The andesite is in contact with carbonate rocks and calcite-siderite veins crosscut the volcanics hosting 2 to 5 per cent galena and sphalerite. In 1970, the vein material assayed: 0.1 per cent copper, 0.4 per cent zinc, 0.4 per cent lead and 0.006 gram per tonne silver.

Work History

In 1967, Noranda Exploration Company completed geophysical and geochemical surveys and 90.2 metres of diamond drilling in seven holes on their Rock property. No record of the work is available.

Summit Oils Limited staked the Joe 1-66 claims in 1969 and carried out a reconnaissance geochemical survey. The property was transferred to Lobell Mines Limited which was incorporated in April 1970 by Summit Oils. Additional staking was done to a total of 128 claims. Work by Lobell during 1970 included magnetometer and electromagnetic surveys over 43.5 kilometres, a geochemical survey comprising 231 soil and 79 silt samples, and geological mapping. During 1972 induced polarization and geochemical soil surveys covering Joe 1-16, 46, 48-50, 52, and 54 claims were carried out.

In 2009, Lions Gate Energy visited the Loljuh showing area. The old camp was located at 6028554 North, and 618409 East. A cursory examination did not detect the core. The site should be further investigated in an attempt to locate the 1967 core since there is no record of the results from the. Drill sites were not located during the 2009 examination, which was hampered by thick subalpine balsam cover.
