The Mo showing is located about 10 kilometres south-southwest of Endako and is on the Endako mine (093K 006) property.
The geology of the region consists of: 1) a Mississippian to Triassic Cache Creek Group oceanic volcanic and sedimentary assemblage 2) the Upper Triassic dominantly mafic volcanic Takla Group 3) the Lower to Middle Jurassic Hazelton Group mafic to felsic volcanic and sedimentary rocks 4) the Upper Cretaceous to Lower Tertiary Ootsa Lake Group sedimentary and volcanic rocks and 5) the Oligocene and Miocene Endako Group. The region has been intruded by the Lower Jurassic quartz monzonite to granodiorite Topley Intrusive Suite, Upper Jurassic plutons of the Francois Lake Suite and plugs and stocks related to Upper Cretaceous and Tertiary volcanism.
The area is underlain by rocks of the Francois Lake Suite. Five intrusive phases have been recognized in the Suite based on texture and composition.
Molybdenum mineralization occurs in the vicinity of the contact between the Endako and Casey quartz monzonite phases. An aplite dike is also present in this area.
Work History
The immediate area of the occurrence has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Endako (MINFILE 093K 006) mine and a complete exploration history of the area can be found there.
In 1980, Placer Development Ltd. completed 13 percussion drill holes, totalling 1100.0 metres, on the area as the MO 1 and 4 and Fran 102 claims. Drilling yielded intercepts of 0.034 per cent molybdenite over 57 metres, including 0.053 per cent molybdenite over 27 metres, in hole R344; 0.016 per cent molybdenite over 63 metres in hole R345; 0.011 per cent molybdenite over 81 metres in hole R347; 0.012 per cent molybdenite over 45 metres in hole R348 and 0.013 per cent molybdenite over 81 metres in hole R350 (Assessment Report 8204). Some of these holes likely occurred on or near the nearby CO (MINFILE 093K 007) occurrence.
In 2001, Thomspon Creek Mining Ltd. completed five diamond drill holes, totalling 772.7 metres, on the Water Tank (MINFILE 093K 007 and 093K 014) and SE Dump (MINFILE 093K 010) area. A drillhole (S-01-04) on the Water Tank area to the northeast yielded 0.043 per cent molybdenite over 24 metres, including 0.132 per cent molybdenite over 3 metres (Assessment Report 26792).
In 2003 and 2004, a 3.7 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and 11 diamond drill holes, totalling 1380.2 metres, were completed on an induced polarization anomaly located approximately 900 metres east of the Endako (MINFILE 093K 006) pit and under the north wall of the Denak East (MINFILE 093K 008) pit. Drillhole S-04-05, located on the Fran 102 claim, yielded 0.057 per cent molybdenite over 72 metres (Assessment Report 27406).
In 2006, Thomson Creek Mining Ltd. completed 32 diamond drill holes, totalling 5143.3 metres, on areas west and north of west Denak (MINFILE 093K 008) pit, on the Endako East (MINFILE 093K 007 and 014) zone and near Casey Lake. Drilling yielded intercepts of up to 0.052 per cent molybdenite over 19.8 metres in hole 06-25 and 0.057 and 0.074 per cent molybdenite over 15 metres in hole 06-26 (Assessment Report 28684).
In 2013, Thompson Creek Mining Ltd. completed a program of legal surveys, a LiDAR topographic survey and orthophoto base mapping on the Endako property.
