The Jo showing is located within the Quesnellia Terrane, underlain by mafic volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Takla Group. The Takla group is correlative with similar lithologies of the Nicola Group to the south. The Jo showing consists of chalcopyrite mineralization within sheared basalt of the Takla Group.

HISTORY

In 1970, Canadian Superior Exploration Limited held 55 Jo claims. They conducted an eight mile electromagnetic survey of Jo 1-8.

During 1971, Canadian Superior held 45 Jo claims. Assessment work consisted of 300 feet of trenching on Jo 4 and 5.

The Jo claims were held by Gabriel Resources

In 1981, the G property was optioned from the A.T. Syndicate by Gabriel Resources Inc. In the 1980s, Gabriel Resources’ Yardley Lake (G claims property) extended from Government Creek in the north to Naver Creek, in the south, a distance of about 25 kilometres. The claims varied up to 12 km in width. Since then, Gabriel has initiated several field programs, conducting geological, ground geophysical, and geochemical surveys, and trenching.

In 1981, Gabriel conducted a program over most of the property consisting of geological mapping , geochemical sampling, and a ground electro-magnetic (VLF-EM) geophysical survey over most of the property.

In 1985, Gabriel carried out additional heavy mineral concentrate sampling, soil and rock geochemistry, VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys, geological mapping, limited backhoe trenching, and an airborne INPUT EM and magnetic surveys over all of the claim

In 1986, 1,407 metres was diamond drilled in 13 holes. A total of 60 line kilometres of ground magnetic and horizontal loop EM surveys were completed over selected areas of the property. Drilling occurred primarily over EM anomalies around Yardley Lake.

In 1987, a total of 707 metres in six holes of NQ size core was diamond drilled. Drill targets were primarily coincident induced polarization and magnetometer anomalies or geological structures. Assaying of the drill core returned sub-economic values. Also, a low-level airborne magnetic, electromagnetic, and VLF survey was flown. Work on the Ahbau Creek property (G-South (093G 007) (also held as the G claims) has delineated a possible 50,000 tons of ore grading 8.5 grams/tonne gold.

The 1988 work program investigated magnetic lows, possibly genetically related to the placer gold, outlined by the 1987 airborne survey. It consisted of detailed heavy mineral concentrate sampling, 22 soil samples over a small grid, rock chip sampling, and detailed mapping. The heavy mineral concentrates assayed very high, with visible gold in many samples, but they were not conclusive in delineating the source of the gold. The soil and rock chip samples returned no significant assays. Based on encouraging results of the 1988 geochemical surveys, further work is needed to determine if the airborne anomalies are genetically related to the placer gold. In 1988, a small program consisting of geochemical sampling and geological mapping was carried out to test the economic potential of several airborne geophysical anomalies delineated by the 1987 survey.

The Jo showing was held by Gabriel Resources during the 1980s but no specific work appears to have been done on it.
