The Peacock showing is situated along Two Mile Creek on the west side of Cariboo Lake, approximately 12 kilometres northeast of Likely.
The geology of the region consists of (?)Hadrynian to Paleozoic Snowshoe Group rocks. The Snowshoe Group is an assemblage of dominantly metasedimentary rocks within the Barkerville terrane. These metasedimentary rocks comprise mainly marble, quartzite and phyllite, which, in this area, mainly comprise the Harveys Ridge succession. Metamorphism of the region varies from chlorite to sillimanite facies and higher, but most of the mineralization in the region is confined to those areas metamorphosed no higher than greenschist grade.
The Peacock showing consists of several quartz veins up to approximately 1 metre wide in silicified schist. These veins, which strike to the north and dip steeply to the east, are weakly mineralized with galena, sphalerite and pyrite with associated anomalous values of gold and silver.
From 1987 to 1988, C. E. Carlson conducted exploration programs on the Duck 1 and Duck 2 claim groups. In 1987, 1179 soil samples were collected from an area 2.5 kilometres north of Rollie (Duck) Creek. The following year, exploration consisted of a 127-sample soil geochemistry survey, a 5.48 line-kilometre very low frequency electromagnetic (VLF-EM) geophysical survey and seven diamond drill holes, totalling 1034 metres. Four of the seven drillholes were situated along Two Mile Creek.
Barker Minerals Ltd. began exploration programs in the area in 1999. Most of their early efforts focused on the Frank Creek showings (MINFILE 093A 152, 093A 231) to the east, on the south side of Cariboo Lake. In 2004, the SCR (MINFILE 093A 203), Peacock and Unlikely (MINFILE 093A 163) showings were briefly examined as part of Barker Minerals Ltd.’s Frank Creek exploration program.
In 2015, after a flash flood along Two Mile Creek exposed new outcrops of massive sulphide mineralization, Barker Minerals Ltd. collected 25 rock samples from the Upper Falls area of Two Mile Creek, located upstream of the Peacock showing, and 24 samples from the Lower Falls area in the immediate vicinity of the Peacock showing. Samples from the Lower Falls area assayed up to 9.32 per cent copper and 0.068 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 36040).
In 2016, an additional 33 soil and 104 rock samples were collected. Samples collected during the 2015 work program were also sent for geochemical analysis. Some of the rock samples from the 2015 program contained anomalous results for copper and zinc. Thirty-six rock samples were collected from the Upper Falls area along Two Mile Creek, approximately 300 metres upstream of the Peacock showing. That same year, Barker Minerals Ltd. collected 105 rock samples from outcrops exposed by the 2015 Two Mile Creek flood. The samples were collected to the east of the Peacock showing along Two Mile Creek near the shore of Cariboo Lake. Samples of quartz and mica schists, argillite and sandstone contained anomalous values of up to 2.11 per cent copper, 0.05 per cent zinc and 0.18 per cent lead (Assessment Report 36162).
