The WOOD showing is situated on the southeast edge of Woodjam Creek, 11 kilometres southeast of the community of Horsefly, 57 kilometres east-northeast of the city of Williams Lake.
The geology of the region consists of Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Nicola Group volcanic rocks intruded by the Lower Jurassic Takomkane batholith granodiorite. Plateau basalt of probable Miocene age overlies the Takomkane batholith.
Chalcopyrite and pyrite occur in closely spaced fractures within hornblende granodiorite which outcrops in Woodjam Creek. The age of mineralization is not known but it is likely similar in age to porphyry-type mineralization that occurs elsewhere in the granodioritic stocks (i.e. Lower Jurassic).
In 2011 and 2012, Teslin River Resources Corp. drilled 9 diamond drill holes totalling 2417.848 metres on their Rand property option, immediately north of the Wood showing, as well as 27.26 line kilometres of induced polarization and a 60.56 line kilometre ground magnetic survey. Their exploration efforts did not produce encouraging results despite the presence of overlapping geophysical anomalies and the intersection of mineralized Takomkane quartz monzonite at depth (Assessment Reports 32735, 33816).
There has been quite extensive exploration to the west, southeast and south of the Wood showing since 1996. Refer to the Woodjam (Minfile 093A 078), Cariboo Rand (Minfile 093 188) and Megaton prospects for further information on the geology and exploration history of the area.
