The Red showing consisting of native copper occurs within plateau basalt of probably Miocene age, which overlies Lower Jurassic porphyritic basalt of the Nicola Group of the central Quesnel belt. While native copper is not uncommon within the plateau basalts of central British Columbia, these occurrences have no economic importance apart from their possible value in the providing of mineralogical specimens.
The showing is situated about 5 kilometres south-southwest of the village of Horsefly. Best access is from Horsefly via the 108 Road southwesterly to Gammarus Lake or via the Starlike Lake Road. The roads are good, all-weather gravel roads used primarily by local ranchers and the forest industry. Numerous tote and skid roads provide excellent secondary access.
