The Hill 160 occurrence is located on a small knoll at an elevation of approximately 320 metres, 1.8 kilometres north of Bluebell Creekâs mouth on Quatse Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by northwest-trending belts of basaltic volcanics and carbonate sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen and Quatsino formations (Vancouver Group) and mafic volcanics and sediments of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group (Holberg volcanic unit, Nahwitti River wacke and Parson Bay Formation). These volcanic and sedimentary rocks have been intruded by granodioritic rocks of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.
Locally, at the Hill 160 zone, bornite and chalcopyrite replace siliceous and tuffaceous beds in the upper part of the Karmutsen Formation. Similar mineralization is reported approximately 500 metres southeast at the Hill 140 zone. Another zone of mineralization, referred to as the 155 zone, is reported approximately 775 metres southwest of the Hill 140 zone and comprises chalcopyrite mineralization in a 1.5- to 3.0-metre-wide skarn band in altered andesite.
In 1989, a chip sample from the Hill 160 North zone assayed 2.81 per cent copper and 10.6 grams per tonne silver over 2.0 metres, whereas a select grab sample (149970) from the Hill 140 North zone assayed greater than 1.0 per cent copper with 2.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 19417). Also at this time, a drillhole (Q89-1), located between the Hill 160 and 140 zones yielded up to 0.36 per cent copper over 0.9 metre (Assessment Report 19417).
In 1995, samples (97710 to 97717) from the Hill 160 zone yielded up to 5.8 per cent copper, 19.9 grams per tonne silver and 0.17 gram per tonne gold with an average value of 1.66 per cent copper from 20 trenches, whereas sampling of two trenches on the Hill 140 zone averaged 0.27 per cent copper (Assessment Report 25408).
In 1997, a chip sample (28156) from the Hill 160 zone assayed 3.7 per cent copper and 11.3 grams per tonne silver over 0.25 metre, whereas a sample (28159) from a trench on the Hill 140 zone yielded 0.7 per cent copper (Assessment Report 25408).
The area has been explored since the early 1920s in conjunction with the nearby Caledonia (MINFILE 092L 061) occurrence.
In 1981, Energex Minerals Ltd. completed an airborne electromagnetic survey on the area as the Pick claims. In 1988, a 390.0 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey was completed on the area. In 1989, Hisway Resources Corp. prospected the area and completed a single drillhole, totalling 152.9 metres, on the area.
During 1993 through 1997, Winfield Resources Ltd. completed programs of soil and rock sampling, geological mapping, ground geophysical surveys and two diamond drill holes on the area.
In 2016, the area was prospected by Tech-X Resources Ltd.
