Capsule Geology

The NORs 12 occurrence is located on a steep hill side to the south of Noomas Creek, at an elevation of 660 metres.

The area is underlain by north striking carbonates and calcareous sediments of the Quatsino and Parson Bay formations overlying Karmutsen Formation tholeiitic basalts, all of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group. Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group andesitic to rhyodacitic lava, tuff, breccia and minor sediments are coeval with, or genetically related to, granodiorite of the Nimpkish batholith of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. Strong, regional north to northwest trending faults, often defining intrusive and lithological contacts, traverse the area.

Locally, a mineralized siliceous garnet skarn zone occurs along the contact between marble and a felsite dike. Sulphide mineralization consists of massive bornite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite with covellite.

In 1989, sampling yielded up to 323 grams per tonne silver, 0.3 gram per tonne gold, 0.132 per cent cadmium, 20.3 per cent copper and 20.6 per cent zinc (samples NORs-12 and KD-3; Assessment Report 20092).

In 2017, a float sample (S-17-29), located a short distance upslope to the south of the occurrence, assayed 5.6 per cent copper, 5.2 per cent zinc and 96.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 36824).

Work History

During 1989 through 2006, J.W. Laird completed programs of rock sampling and geological mapping on the area as the Nimpkish and CBL 1-10 claims. In 2017, Selkirk Metals Corp. completed program of rock and soil sampling on the Storey Creek property. In 2019, Ridgeline Exploration Services completed a 454.3 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Nimpkish (Wolf) property.
