The Heart Creek occurrence is located on a south-southwest slope of Mount Adam at an elevation of 1150 metres, approximately 2 kilometres east of Schoen Creek.

Regionally, the area is underlain by Upper Paleozoic limestones exposed in low lying areas east of the claims. The limestones are overlain by the informally named Daonella beds, a Middle Triassic unit of black shale and siliceous tuffaceous cherts that is in turn overlain by the Karmutsen basalts, a thick pile of pillowed and massive subaqueous to subaerial lavas. Intrusive rocks include Lower to Upper Triassic diabase sills (emplaced mainly in the Daonella beds) and later, large Jurassic granodiorite plutons.

Locally, a gossanous area, exposed in a gully, hosts 5 to 10 per cent sulphide mineralization, including pyrite and chalcopyrite, over a 30-metre-long brecciated zone straddling the contact of a dacite and fine-grained granodiorite associated with sericite-illite-chlorite-pyrite alteration.

A second zone of mineralization, referred to as the MLR and/or Rubicon zone, is located approximately 100 metres upslope and northeast of the Heart Creek zone and comprises a zone of altered hornfelsed/skarn rock hosting pyrite veins and semi-massive sulphide (pyrite-arsenopyrite?-chalcopyrite?) layers and/or breccia with local silicification and chlorite.

In 2011, an in-situ sample (1416185) from the Heart occurrence assayed 4.076 grams per tonne gold and 0.077 per cent copper, whereas a nearby talus fragment (sample 1416187) of semi-massive sulphide yielded 21.5 grams per tonne gold and 0.17 per cent copper (Assessment Report 32654).

In 2012, five chip samples from the Heart occurrence, taken over a length of 21 metres, yielded an average of 1.5 grams per tonne gold, whereas three grab samples (16617, 16619 and 16620) yielded from 3.35 to 6.25 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 33661). Also at this time, five grab samples (16559, 16560, 16603, 16604 and 16612) from, referred to as the MLR and/or Rubicon zone yielded from 2.19 to 6.64 grams per tonne gold with 0.01 to 0.488 per cent copper (Assessment Report 33661).

In 2014, chip samples (1593156 through 1593165) from the Heart occurrence yielded an average of 1.98 grams per tonne gold over 30 metres, whereas rock samples (1593153 and 1593169) from the Heart and Rubicon zones yielded up to 5.67 and 1.52 grams per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 35473).

Work History

During 2000 through 2014, M. Schau, later with Interwest Enterprises Ltd., conducted numerous programs of geochemical (soil, silt and rock) and biogeochemical sampling, ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, trenching, geological mapping and prospecting on the area as the Flan-Consolidated property.
