The Shannon showing is located approximately 14 kilometres west of Port Hardy and 14 kilometres northwest of Coal Harbour.

Regionally, the area is underlain by the Upper Triassic Karmutsen, Quatsino and Parson Bay Formations and Lower Jurassic Harbledown and Bonanza Formations of the Vancouver Group, which have been intruded by rocks of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.

Locally, the property is underlain by argillite, chert and felsic tuffs of the Parson Bay Formation, andesites and basalts of the Bonanza Formation and diorite, gabbro and rhyolite porphyry intrusions of the Island Plutonic Suite.

Mineralization occurs as skarn in altered Parson Bay Formation sediments with pyrrhotite, pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena. The skarns are generally found adjacent to faults and/or felsic dikes and have a dark-brown to black weathered surface.

In 1991, Universal Trident Industries Ltd. collected 35 rock samples from the property. Highlights include sample 60422, which assayed 2.84 per cent zinc and 1.2 grams per tonne silver, and sample 60434, which assayed 0.496 per cent zinc, 0.19 per cent lead and 1 gram per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21490).
