The Culleet Creek Zone consists of the Harvey Cove, Gorby and Boris occurrences and is located south of the Culleet Creek mouth near Harvey Cove, from 5 to 80 metres in elevation.
The area is entirely underlain by Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group intermediate to felsic volcanic flows and pyroclastics. The rocks have undergone low- grade metamorphism as exhibited by the presence of zeolite and laumontite.
The Gorby showing is located at 50 metres elevation, east of Harvey Cove. Locally, a sequence of potassic to chlorite- altered flow- banded rhyolites, rhyolites breccias and felsic tuffs with rare intervals of basalt host consistent fracture- controlled chalcopyrite mineralization, up to 3 per cent, with well-developed quartz stock workings. Wall rocks are pervasively silicified with potassium feldspar alteration envelopes.
In 1992, drill hole 92-676-2, located 50 metres to the east of the Gorby occurrence, assayed values of 856 parts per million copper over 19.68 metres, including values of up to 959 parts per million copper over 6.56 metres (Assessment Report 22792). In 1997, five grab samples taken from around the occurrence assayed from 1005.7 to 5245.1 parts per million copper and from 0.3 to 4.9 parts per million molybdenum (Assessment Report 25501).
The Boris showing is located at 80 metres elevation, approximately 100 metres southeast of the Gorby occurrence. In 1991, chip sampling of the showing assayed 1134 parts per million copper over 9.0 metres (Assessment Report 22162).
The Harvey Cove showing is located near tide water, at 5 metres elevation, east of Harvey Cove. In 1991, chip sampling of the showing assayed 1043 parts per million copper over 22.0 metres (Assessment Report 22162).
Work History
In 1979, the Le Mare claims were first staked and prospected the following year by Brinco. In 1998, Phelps Dodge completed a program of prospecting on the Lem property. In 2007, Homegold Resources completed a program of prospecting and geochemical sampling on the Farwest claims. Between 2008 and 2012, New Destiny Mining completed various programs of geological mapping, prospecting, trenching and geochemical sampling on the Le Mare claims. In 2014, a small program of geological mapping, prospecting and examination of workings was conducted by J.T. Shearer, the property owner. In 2016, J.T. Shearer completed a further program of geological mapping on the Le Mare property. The property was examined in 2017 by W.B. Lennan on the behalf of Le Mare Gold Corp. Also at this time, J.T. Shearer completed a minor program of rock sampling and a 6.1 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the Le Mare property. In 2020, J.T. Shearer completed a minor program of rock sampling and a 5.8 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the Le Mare property.
