The Billy 11 occurrence is located on a ridge west of the Adam River, approximately 2.2 kilometres southeast of Rooney Lake. It has been explored in conjunction with the Billy 19 (MINFILE 092L 163) located 1220 metres to the northwest.
The area is underlain by basalts of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group, Karmutsen Formation near the contact with granodiorite of the Late Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. The contact runs along the Adam River, 1.0 kilometre east of the occurrence.
The occurrence consists of disseminated chalcopyrite and bornite with minor pyrite and magnetite in an area where the massive amygdaloidal basalts are highly fractured. Chlorite and epidote alteration are present near mineralization.
In 1969, diamond-drill Hole 6 assayed 0.48 per cent copper over 3.6 metres (Assessment Report 3795).
Work History
In 1969, Newconex completed a program of rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the Rooney claims. The same year, Ameda Copper Mines completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a ground geophysical survey over the area immediately to the north as the CV and Plus claims. In 1972. Sayward Explorations completed a program of rocks and soil sampling, geological mapping and a ground magnetic survey. During 2002 through 2013, M. Schau completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and rock sampling on the area as the Puff claims of the Kringle property. In 2018, Crest Resources Inc. completed a program of prospecting, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, trenching and a 24.0 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the Red Metal Ridge property.
