The CORNICE (Big Creek) occurrence is located in the northeastern arm of Salal Creek, approximately 2.3 kilometres southeast of Salal Peak and to the west of Mt. Guthrum. The site is 39.8 kilometres west-southwest of Gold Bridge, B.C.
Locally, quartz-sericite-pyrite veins and shear zones host fine to medium-grained molybdenite mineralization.
In 1965, a chip sample yielded 0.090 per cent molybdenum over 9.14 metres (Assessment Report 709).
In 2010, two grab samples assayed 0.838 and 0.432 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 32913b).
From 1965 to 1966, Southwest Potash Corp. optioned the property and staked additional ground. They then completed a program of surveying, geological mapping, reconnaissance geochemistry and diamond drilling. In 2007 and 2008, Paget Minerals conducted small exploration programs to confirm past accounts of mineralization on the Salal property.
In early 2010, Miocene Metals Ltd. conducted airborne geophysical surveys over the Salal property. In late 2010 and throughout 2012, Miocene Metals Ltd. completed extensive programs of sampling, prospecting, mapping and four diamond drill holes on the Salal property. In 2022, minor soil and silt sampling and drone photogrammetric surveys were conducted in areas of the Salal property for R. Billingsley.
