The Gowan occurrence is located between the headwaters of Gowan and Rogers creeks.
The area is underlain by gossanous volcanic rocks of intermediate composition which are overlain by lapilli tuff and volcanic breccia, probably of Miocene age. Equigranular quartz monzonite and granodiorite, also considered to be of Miocene age, appear to intrude the volcanic rocks (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 482).
Gold-silver mineralization occurs with disseminated pyrite and arsenopyrite in a highly silicified dacite porphyry(?).
A 1984 grab sample of silicified and sulphide-bearing porphyry assayed 0.63 gram per tonne gold and 18 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 13233).
Work History
In 1984, Noranda completed a program of geological mapping and rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the Gowan 1 claim.
During 2004 through 2006, United Exploration Management completed programs of rock, silt and soil sampling and geological mapping on the area as the Penex and Nickel claims. During 2007 through 2009, Wallbridge Mining Company completed programs of rock, silt and soil sampling, geological mapping and airborne and ground geophysical surveys on the area as the Roger Creek property.
During 2010 through 2012, Miocene Metals completed programs of geochemical sampling, airborne geophysical surveys on the area immediately west as the Rogers Creek property.
During 2013 through 2017, Carube Copper Corp. examined the area as the Rogers Creek property. In 2015, a program of soil sampling was completed on the I and IV zones and a 6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed on the I zone. In 2016, a reconnaissance soil sampling program was performed along a newly build logging road in the area.
