The Upper Piebiter prospect is located south of Piebiter Creek along the lower, northwesterly-facing slopes of Royal Peak. In this region exstensive splays of the Bralorne fault are spatially related to numerous mineral occurrences of the Bridge River mining camp.

The Upper Piebiter area is underlain by metasedimentary rocks and narrow northwest trending belts of serpentinite of the Mississippian to Jurassic Bridge River Complex (Group).

Gold mineralization is associated with quartz biotite schist and quartzite near ultramafic contacts and in one case with serpentinite collected from below a dyke or sill. Mineralization has been traced over 600 metres along strike and for a width of 15 to 35 metres and is open at depth and to the west. It appears to be structurally controlled, at least in part, within a broad shear zone. Stratabound pyrrhotite and pyrite with minor arsenopyrite and trace chalcopyrite are disseminated within quartzite in the zone of shearing.

In 1986, drilling averaged 0.51 to 0.69 gram per tonne gold with sections yielding up to 3.63 grams epr tonne gold over 1 metre and 5.69 grams per tonne gold over 0.2 metre (Carpenter, T.H. (2012-02-21): Technical Report on the Royalle Property with Recommendations for Further Exploration).

In 1987, drill hole 87-02 intersected 9 metres averaging 2.23 grams per tonne gold, including 5.28 grams per tonne over one metre (Assessment Report 15871).

In 1990, drilling yielded up to 2.5 grams per tonne gold with numerous intercepts of less than 1 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 19828).

Work History

In 1985, Hillside Energy Corp. completed a program of soil and rock sampling on the area. The following year, eleven drill holes, totalling 2413.8 metres, were completed. In 1987, Trans Atlantic Resources Inc. and Armeno Resources Inc. conducted a program of geological mapping, geochemical sampling and ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys on the area. In early 1988, two additional diamond drill holes, totalling 420.6 metres, were completed. In 1990, Trans Atlantic and Armeno Resources completed an induced polarization survey followed by nine reverse circulation drill holes, totalling 1192 metres.

In 2006, Covenant Resources Ltd. examined the area as the Piebiter property. In 2007 and 2008, airborne ZTEM surveys were completed on the area. In 2009, a MMI soil sampling program was completed. In 2011, Worthington Resources Ltd. completed a 408.5 line-kilometre airborne ZTEM survey on the area as the Royalle property.
