Locally, copper mineralization occurs in shears and fractures in sericitized intrusive rock.
Work History
In 1965, Cominco Ltd. completed a 12.8 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey, geological mapping and trenching on the Nancy, B.L. and Tom claims. In 1967, Northlode Exploration Ltd. completed a 40.8 line-kilometre ground magnetic and induced polarization survey on the Bar and MB claims. In 1968 and 1969, McIntyre Porcupine Mines Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping, soil sampling, a 33.0 line-kilometre magnetic survey and an induced polarization survey on the area as the Jan and Hi claims.
In 1973, a 6.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed on the Jan claims. A trench was reported on the Jan 13 claim by this time. In 1976 and 1977, Leonard Peckham prospected the area as the Kik claims.
In 1980, Cominco Ltd. completed 60.0 line-kilometres of ground magnetometer and induced polarization surveys on the area as the Island property. The following year, 22.9 line-kilometres of induced polarization surveys were completed on the property. In 1982, Cominco Ltd. completed an induced polarization survey on the area as the Island property.
