The Nap occurrence is underlain by hornfelsed pyroclastic rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. To the northeast these are intruded by the Lower Jurassic granodiorite Wild Horse Intrusion. Locally this intrusion consists of coarse-grained gneissic granite with late-stage east striking lamprophyre dykes. Rhyolitic to basaltic flows of the Eocene Kamloops Group unconformably overlie the Mesozoic rocks.
Nicola Group volcanic rocks have been extensively sheared and silicified and are pyritic. A well-developed fracture system strikes east across the Nap showing and is occupied by dense siliceous rock. Mineralization consisting of chalcopyrite and minor sphalerite is associated with 1 to 10 per cent finely disseminated pyrite within the siliceous zone. Gossans are exposed in several areas.
The Nap property was originally staked in 1973 by Newconex to cover a quartz-sericite-pyrite gossan and a vegetative kill zone. Newconex conducted a two-phase work program initially consisting of soil sampling, geological mapping and a geophysical survey followed up by a 12-hole percussion drill program. Drilling in 1973 intersected a 33.5 metre zone grading 0.21 per cent copper (hole 73-P11). After allowing the property to lay dormant, Newconex returned to the property in 1977, conducting additional geophysical work. When nothing significant was discovered, the property was dropped. In 1987, W. Grunewald and D. Lieshman staked the property as the Stump group. Between 1987 and 1990, Grunewald and Lieshman conducted soil, geochemical and geophysical surveys to cover known mineralization. The Nap occurrence was staked in 1994 by J. Lindinger. From 1994 to 2009, Lindinger conducted various exploration programs including soil and rock sampling, trenching, geophysical and geological surveys. Trenching in 1996 uncovered anomalous values including 0.44 grams per tonne gold and 2 grams per tonne silver over 43.5 metres in Trench 96-14 (ARIS 24249). Exploration in 2009 consisted of a single line of soil samples to follow up on historical trenching.
In 2010, Dakar Resources Corp. completed a ground magnetic and induced polarization resistivity survey on the Nap property. In 2011, drilling intercepts include 0.26 per cent copper and 0.37 gram per tonne gold over 15.8 metres in hole N11-01 and 0.20 per cent copper, 0.07 gram per tonne gold and 1.0 grams per tonne silver over 29 metres in hole N11-02 (Church, C. (2011-06-07): Technical Report on Exploration Activities on the Nap Copper-Gold Property).
In 2012, Dakar Resource Corp. conducted a short 875 metre drilling program to follow up on known geophysical and geochemical anomalies on the Nap property. Copper mineralization occurs predominantly as disseminated chalcopyrite in biotite hornfelsed metasediments with lesser augite porphyry. Results included 0.16 per cent copper over 168.6 metres.
