The Dot occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1310 metres on a northwest-facing slope, south of Godey Creek and approximately 3 kilometres south-southwest of the west end of Garcia Lake.

The western belt of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group consists of a sequence of calc-alkaline flows, pyroclastics, epiclastic sediments and abundant limestone. The western and central Nicola Group belts are separated by a northeast-trending regional fault. Rocks on the property exhibit extensive fracturing. The most prominent orientations of fractures are 035 degrees and 345 degrees with highly variable dips. Locally the showing is underlain by red to purple andesitic breccia and tuff, plagioclase porphyritic andesite, massive to poorly bedded grey fossiliferous limestone and associated limy sediments. Alteration minerals are chlorite and/or epidote.

Copper mineralization occurs in skarns and in the Nicola Group rocks. The skarn zones are 0.6 to 3 metres wide, consist primarily of actinolite and magnetite and carry chalcopyrite and very minor bornite. In the volcanic flows and limestone, these sulphides occur as fine fracture linings and sparse disseminations. Sphalerite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and specular hematite also occur. The skarn zones are reported to trend east-west.

Work History

The Dot claims were first staked by Alex Campbell in early 1967. Later that year, Craigmont Mines Ltd. completed a program of geochemical sampling, magnetic and induced polarization surveys, trenching and two drillholes, totalling 156 metres, on the claims.

In 1972, Cairn Mines Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping, trenching and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the Eva claims. Sampling of the trenches yielded up to 0.24 per cent copper over 9 metres (sample 14154) in trench no. 2, 0.26 per cent copper over 12 metres (sample 14155) in trench no. 3, 0.34 per cent copper over 1.95 metres (sample 490) in trench no. 5, 0.72 per cent copper over 1.2 metres (sample 38134) in trench no. 6, 0.26 per cent copper over 1.35 metres (sample 496) in trench no. 9 and 0.39 per cent copper over 3.9 metres (sample 497) in trench no. 10 (Assessment Report 4107).

In 1981, two diamond drill holes, totalling 270.2 metres, were completed on the area as the A.L. 1 claim. Drilling failed to intersect the skarn mineralization, though an 8.5-metre section of volcanics hosting approximately 1.0 per cent chalcopyrite was encountered. No assays were reported.

In 1995, Cambridge Minerals Ltd. completed an 834.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the SK 1-16 claims.

During 2013 through 2018, the area was prospected, mapped and sampled by K. Ellerbeck.
